These bearings were originally designed for water pumps on heavy duty engines. They have been modified to match the exterior dimensions of the original (GM 908076) Idler Pulley bearings. The modifications made by others typically use a high speed cut-off wheel which applies significant heat to the shaft. This shows up as a burn mark on the steel and is easily enough heat to damage the seals. A damaged seal will obviously shorten the life of the bearing.
Our bearings are modified by experienced machinists using processes that WILL NOT apply significant heat to the shaft so as to protect the seals. After modification, the bearing shaft ends are properly deburred. Our guys are the real-deal, long time American machinists, we are lucky to know them.
The pictures below clearly tell the story.

INSTALLING YOUR NEW BEARING
These bearings must be press fit to the housing and the pulley. Be sure to use a steel adapter - such as a correctly sized hex socket to drive the bearing OD into the housing without applying a load to the seal or shaft. Next, support the short end of the shaft and press the pulley onto the long end of the shaft. You must use another adapter (or socket) that will allow the shaft to extend past the pulley so it may be pressed to the same location as on the original bearing.
BE CAREFUL!
NEVER ALLOW THE PRESS LOAD TO BE SUPPORTED BY THE BALL BEARINGS
YOUR NEW BEARING WILL BE DAMAGED.
